This might drive your close friends and family crazzzyy, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do 😜
I believe muting your notifications is a great way to stay focused and stop dispersing your attention when working with technology. This may not apply to people whose jobs don't involve much computer use, but to us tech people it's probably a life saver.
☹️ 𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐈 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 easily 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧t 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬.
🙀 Now, though I don't mute my phone calls, I've muted texts and social media updates so that I only see a text or an update when I decide to check. I've been doing this for almost a year and it's allowed me to gain control over how I manage my focus.
🙃 Understandably, my friends and family got a little mad at me for being so late to everything but since I still check my texts from time to time AND keep my phone calls unmuted so that I'm available in case of emergencies, they stopped caring (I hope...)
Another consequence of doing this is that I have a lot less people texting me at all and I know the ones who still do are my real ones lol.
🤔 What do you guys think about this practice: do you think it's too much/extra or that it's reasonable for our modern times? Is this something you're interested in doing?
